Can someone knowledgeable on air filters please help me?
I'm seeking an air filter capable of removing pesticides and other chemicals from the indoor airspace. I've decided to go with one made by AllerAir, but am uncertain on which will be the most proficient at doing so. Someone knowledgeable in these affairs, please resolve my query. Should I go with 1. or 2.? In addition, is there any possibility of either filters emitting carbon monoxide or something else into the air during operation?
1. The 5000 DX Vocarb

2. The 5000 MCS Supreme

Detailed responses, please. Curtly answers will be ignored. In addition, note that I am ONLY seeking a portable air filter, as opposed to a unit that will treat the entire house.
The selection of a carbon filter is appropriate as pesticides are typically hydrocarbons. The first (cheaper) unit contains almost twice the amount of activated carbon (28 lb) than the second more expensive unit (15 lb). The more expensive unit does come equipped with better particulate filer that is medical grade, but this does not appear to be what you are primarily concerned with. The activated carbon is the media you need. The more the better. The fact that you can get a unit for $100 less with double the adsorption facility strikes me as the better deal.
The unit is portable and does appear to be designed to abate hydrocarbons from rooms.
You do not have to worry about CO or CO2 the carbon filter removes the hydrocarbon without reacting with it.
You are on the right track carbon is the way to go. I would look around for cheaper models if you can and also, very importantly, call up the manufactures of these units, and discuss your particular application. They will be an excellent resource to you.
