can replacing a 10 amp fuse with a 15 amp for a blower fan cause the check engine light to come on?
The car is a lexus 98 LS400 . The light came up 3 weeks after I replaced the fuse. Then I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes .After I reconnected The battery , the check engine light went off . Wat is going on?
When you disconnected the battery, you erased the code in the car computer and thus reset the check engine light. That light indicates a problem with the emissions system. It is either a faulty oxygen sensor, mass air sensor, or perhaps even the gas cap was not fully tightened. The only way to know for sure is to have the code read. When it comes back on (and it will), take the car to an auto parts store and have them read the codes. They can tell you what component set the light on.
It has nothing to do with the fuse, but take note that there is a reason why the circuit was protected with a 10 amp fuse. To increase the fuse size could cause an electrical fire instead of blowing the fuse. Always use the fuse size recommended.
