I got this a/c unit back in May of this yr . It worked great . Now it gets so cold the room feels like its freezing and the a/c unit freezes up solid. I have even put temperature on 80 and still same result. It is 12000 BTU . Any suggestion's on what the problem might be ? Also if it has to do with temperature control or thermostat, is there a way to reset it. It is digital . the model is 580.75121501 . not sure if that helps . Sure could use some help on this . You say you got it in May but that model number says no parts available although the number is good. It is either too old or too new.
Did you buy it used? Either way it sounds like a bad thermostat if you set it at 80 and it freezes the room. It is possible to fit a generic one in it....maybe. If this is an old unit they are no longer selling parts for. But finding and fitting one in to it is not easy and most techs won't do it if other parts are not available.

If it was new in May then it is likely just not in their system yet. Then it is probably electronic and I would guess a bad thermistor which is the little black plug in device that senses the temperature. Any chance that has fallen down and is not on the evaporator, behind the filter in front? That could do it if it fell where it can't sense the temperature.
