How to repair a leak in evap system? also is it safe to drive on?
I got a trouble code the other day (P0456) it says there is a Evaporative Emission System Leak detected (very small leak) where might this leak be? i reset the code and it has not came back on but i am wondering if it comes back where do i start looking? can i drive like this? people told me it won't hurt my van just the atmosphere is that true???? lol
nah i haven't put gas in it for about a week now lol
Evap is a smog related device and most common failure is the gas cap being loose or a bad seal. If this is not the case, you will need to seek the help of a shop that has a smoker. This is a device that forces smoke through the system to identify where the leak is coming from and it works, I've used one several times. The evap recovery system works with only a 1/2 psi pressure within the system so there is really nothing that you have that would accomplish this test. It is also an automatic failure in a smog test situation. Hope this helps.
