How high will the cannon ball go and what was the initial velocity?
A cannon ball was launched straight up in the air. How high would it go if 4 seconds passed before it returned to the ground? What was the initial velocity of the cannon ball?
if you just dropped it
d = 1/2 a t^2
d = .5*9.81 * 2^2
d=19.6 m
then to find the distance up
vf^2 = vi^2 + 2ad
0 = vi^2 + (2) (-9.81) ( 19.6)
