Portable Air Cooler to run at max cooling power?
I just received a Sunpentown SF-613 Evaporative Cooler in the mail today. As far as I know, the thing works as there's definitely some cool air blowing and it is giving me some relief. However, its certainly not giving me a 10 degree temperature drop that I expected.
Is there a way to get my air cooler to blow colder air? Also, is there a way to get the thing to cool my entire room as opposed to just its own line of air flow?
I live in Vail, AZ. The temperature is roughly 100 degrees F, humidity is 23% with a dew point at 55 degrees F.

I have a small 10x10 foot room, I have a ceiling fan running, 2 windows are open. The air cooler is positioned against the wall away from both windows.
I would suggest spending money for a window unit, maybe a 5000 btu.
The evaporative coolers are fine. However, they are more effective in milder climates because they do not have enough cooling power to cool a room with a high heat load like you have in Arizona. They just don't have the power for it.
They would be more effective at night when you go to be and when the heat load is lower. In combination with a window unit. Sears would have a decent one or lots of people sell used ones in the want ads.
